Why is my computer noisy?

Usually the main culprits are the Cooling Fans. Some computers can have anywhere between 2 – 7 fans. These fans could be full of dust or their bearings could be dry. Other possibilities are Hard Disk Failure or vibration. If your computer is noisy, it could be time for a service.

Why is my computer slow?

One common reason why a PC can run slow is the user has too many programs automatically starting during the boot up process. Most of these hide in the background without you even knowing which chews up a lot of system resources. Disabling some of these unnecessary services and upgrading memory can make a lot of difference. There are many reasons why a computer runs slowly, others could be virus and spyware related, or possible Hard Disk Failure. If you are concerned about your computer’s performance then contact us for advice!

I accidentally deleted a file I need, can I get it back

Yes you can. If the file is not in Recycle Bin then call us immediately. Avoid installing any new applications on the same drive as the file existed. We have the necessary tools to recover your important data from all types of media.

Why can’t I access the Internet?

The first step before you ring and abuse your Internet Service Provider is to power down your modem for several minutes. If that doesn’t solve your problem another possible reason could be your firewall. Disable it for 5 minutes and then try accessing the Internet. If this works then many firewall applications have a reset to default option. But if you find your firewall is not the cause of your connection issue then give your Internet Service Provider a call so they can test the connection. If they confirm everything is fine then call us to arrange an appointment to get you back online.

Am I safe using Internet Banking?

Internet Banking is safe to use with the right precautions. Firstly, your computer must be installed with a trusted security software package which protects you from Viruses, Trojans and Spyware. Make sure this is updated daily and completes a full scan regularly. Most of these scans can be scheduled to automatically run at a certain time of the week. Secondly, Windows must be updated regularly to make sure the latest security patches are installed. Thirdly, change your banking password regularly or purchase a ‘Security Token’ from your Financial Institution. These Tokens generate a different unique code every time you log onto your account. Finally, never reply to an email pretending to be from your bank. They will never email you. All confidential information is always posted. Following these simple steps can make your computer more secure for online banking.
